Collection « Les sciences sociales contemporaines »
8, no 1-2, 1991, pp. 183-202. Summary Family medicine is a field of study and professional practice that uses concepts and tools originating from many scientific disciplines. Among those, cultural anthropology has a major contribution. In regard to field techniques, it offers a variety of qualitative instruments. As for the clinical relationship, the use of concepts such as culture patterns and shared experiences enrich the biopsychosocial perspective in use in family medecine. Moreover, the interaction between the two disciplines helps to construct the meaning of helpseeking patterns and patterns of morbidity in the clinical set up.
